The stylish owners of this West Leederville house drew inspiration from warehouse living when they set upon the design phase of this incredible home. Mima and Derek engaged Grand Designs UK architect Ian Rodgers to help bring their vision to life, and the result is sheer brilliance. I am in love.

Two double-storey gable-roof pavilions are joined together seamlessly by the ground floor living space and central courtyard. Stunning brickwork, concrete floors and the clever use of timber, all blend together to create a certain warmth in the home, whilst the floor-to-ceiling glass and louvred windows allow crossflow ventilation and the Perth sun to delicately flood the space with abundant natural light.

What I love about this house is not only does it satisfy that urban contemporary aesthetic which we all love, it functions as a very intelligent family home. Private areas are thoughtfully separated from public spaces and the home features all the bells and whistles you could think of – heated floors, a built-in water filtration system, designer fittings, camera intercom and CCTV system, a salt water plunge pool, cloakroom/cellar and easy care landscaped gardens.

WHAT THE OWNERS LOVE

“We love the double height spaces throughout the living areas – they give our home a beautiful feeling of space and luxury, and the large wall areas provide space for art.

Our favourite part – the kitchen. This is the heart of our house. We carefully designed all the cabinetry so there is a place for everything. It’s an entertainer’s dream space. We love to cook and have our friends and family around us. We love the view (from our kitchen) of our neighbour’s beautiful old liquid amber tree which throughout Autumn, gives a spectacular display of colour.” Mima & Derek
